How to Activate and Use Your PDK Digital FOB

Oaks at San Gabriel uses PDK Access for digital amenity access. A digital FOB allows authorized residents to access the pool and restroom areas using their mobile phone instead of a physical FOB.

Before you can use the PDK Access app, your digital credential must be activated by FirstService Residential. Once your access has been set up, you should receive an email from PDK with instructions to activate your mobile credential.

Important: The PDK activation email must be opened on the phone you plan to use for amenity access.

Before You Start

Before downloading and setting up the app, please make sure:

  • FirstService Residential has activated your digital credential.

  • You have received the PDK activation email.

  • You are using the phone you plan to use for amenity access.

  • You have access to the email address where the PDK activation email was sent.

Do not open the app and type in your email before activating your credential from the PDK email. If you enter your email before activating the credential, the app may not register your access correctly.

Step 1: Download the PDK Access App

Download the PDK Access app on the mobile phone you plan to use for amenity access.

After downloading the app, do not try to set it up manually by entering your email first. Go back to your PDK activation email.

Step 2: Open Your PDK Activation Email

Go back to the email you received from PDK.

Open the email from your mobile phone and tap the activation link or activation button.

This is the step that connects your digital FOB to your phone.

Step 3: Follow the Activation Instructions

After you tap the activation link, PDK should automatically direct you to the app.

Follow the prompts in the app. You may be asked to:

  • Confirm or enter your email address

  • Receive a verification code

  • Enter the verification code

  • Complete setup

  • Allow Bluetooth access

  • Allow app permissions needed for mobile access

Once setup is complete, you should be able to see your available amenity access in the app.

Step 4: Confirm Your Digital FOB Is Working

After activation, open the PDK Access app.

You should see your available access options for the amenity areas, such as the pool gate or restroom doors.

If you see your access options, your digital FOB has been activated correctly.

How to Use Your Digital FOB

To use your digital FOB at the amenity area:

  1. Make sure Bluetooth is turned on.

  2. Open the PDK Access app.

  3. Approach the door or gate reader.

  4. Use the app or Bluetooth access to unlock the authorized door or gate.

If Bluetooth access is active, your phone should communicate with the reader when you are near the door or gate.

⚠️Important: Do not enter your email in the app before activating from the PDK email. ⚠️

If you download the app and enter your email before clicking the activation link in the PDK email, the app may not properly register your digital credential.

If this happens, you may see a message that says you have access to no doors or you may not see the amenity doors in the app.

If that happens, do not continue trying to use the app as-is. You will need to reset the setup and start again from the activation email.

Troubleshooting

The app says I have access to no doors. What should I do?

If the app says you have access to no doors, your credential likely did not register correctly during setup.

This usually happens when the app is opened and the email is entered before the PDK activation email is activated.

To fix this:

  1. Uninstall the PDK Access app.

  2. Reinstall the PDK Access app.

  3. Go back to the PDK activation email.

  4. Open the activation email on your phone.

  5. Tap the activation link or activation button first.

  6. Let the activation link open the app.

  7. Follow the instructions from there.

Do not manually start the app setup by entering your email first.

If you still have no doors after completing these steps, submit a ticket to FirstService Residential.

I never received the PDK activation email.

If you did not receive the PDK activation email, please submit a ticket to FirstService Residential.

This may happen if:

  • Your digital credential has not been activated yet.

  • The Association does not have your correct email address on file.

  • The activation email went to spam or junk.

  • The activation email needs to be resent.

My activation email expired.

If your activation email has expired, please submit a ticket to FirstService Residential and request a new PDK activation email.

I clicked the activation email, but the app still is not working.

If you clicked the activation email but the app is still not working, uninstall the app and start over.

To reset:

  1. Delete the PDK Access app from your phone.

  2. Reinstall the app.

  3. Open the PDK activation email on your phone.

  4. Tap the activation link.

  5. Follow the prompts in the app.

If the issue continues after starting over from the activation email, submit a ticket to FirstService Residential.

Bluetooth is active, but the door or gate is not opening.

If your credential appears in the app and Bluetooth access is active, but the door or gate still does not open, please submit a ticket to FirstService Residential.

When submitting your ticket, include:

  • Your name

  • Property address

  • Email address used for PDK

  • Phone number

  • Whether the issue is at the pool gate, restroom door, or both

  • A screenshot of the app, if available

  • A brief explanation of what happens when you approach the reader

I am locked out of the app or cannot reset my credential.

If you are locked out or the app will not let you reset your credential, you may have exceeded the allowed credential reset limit.

Please submit a ticket to FirstService Residential so your credential can be reviewed or reset.

I got a new phone.

If you get a new phone, you may need to reactivate your digital FOB on the new device.

If the app does not allow you to activate the credential on your new phone, submit a ticket to FirstService Residential.

I lost my phone.

If your phone is lost or stolen, please contact FirstService Residential as soon as possible so the digital credential can be deactivated.

This helps prevent unauthorized access to the amenity areas.

Digital FOB Rules

Can I share my digital FOB?

No. Digital FOBs may not be shared, forwarded, loaned, copied, or transferred to another person.

Each digital FOB is assigned to a specific authorized resident. Sharing your digital credential creates a security issue and may result in suspension of amenity privileges.

Can I forward my PDK activation email to someone else?

No. Do not forward your PDK activation email to another person.

If another resident in your household needs access, they must request their own digital credential through FirstService Residential.
